8 Days Great Virunga Hiking Adventure

The 8 Days Great Virunga Hiking Adventure tackles three volcanoes, beginning with Mount Gahinga (3,474m), Mount Sabyinyo (3,669m), and Mount Muhabura (4,127m) in succession, offering a different terrain on every climb: swamp-filled craters, jagged ridge lines, and sweeping summit panoramas that stretch to Bwindi, Lake Edward, and the Rwenzori ranges. It is Uganda's most complete volcano trekking itinerary.

The non-summit days are equally rewarding. Golden monkeys weave through bamboo forest on the Gahinga slopes, the Batwa Trail in Mgahinga brings Uganda's original forest dwellers to life through storytelling and ancestral skills, and a canoe ride across Lake Bunyonyi with its 29 islands offers calm after the climbs. The journey closes in Kigali, with a visit to the Genocide Memorial Center providing powerful historical context.

For a longer volcano adventure that also adds gorilla trekking, the 10 Days Volcanoes Expedition Safari pairs Rwanda's Mount Bisoke with all three Ugandan peaks. If you want the full cross-border experience, the 16 Days Ultimate Uganda & Rwanda Fly-In Wildlife Safari covers everything.
