Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Kigali, the Land of a Thousand Hills

On arrival at Kigali International Airport you are warmly welcomed by our representative, assisted with arrival formalities and transferred to your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, relax and enjoy Rwanda's renowned hospitality as you prepare for the adventures ahead.
Day 2

Discover Kigali

After breakfast you set out on a guided exploration of Kigali, one of Africa's most impressive cities, visiting local markets and craft centres and gaining insight into the country's history at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a moving tribute to resilience and reconciliation. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy the city's vibrant atmosphere, cafes and cultural scene.
Day 3

Transfer to Akagera National Park

Following breakfast you depart for Akagera National Park, Rwanda's only savannah park and home to the Big Five. On arrival you enjoy a private game drive through rolling grasslands, woodlands, lakes and wetlands, watching for elephant, lion, giraffe, zebra, buffalo and a variety of antelope.
Day 4

Wildlife Safari and Lake Ihema Cruise

Rise early for a morning game drive when wildlife is most active, exploring different sectors of the park in search of predators and other iconic species. In the afternoon a relaxing boat safari on Lake Ihema brings you among large pods of hippo, Nile crocodile and an impressive variety of water birds along the shoreline.
Day 5

Journey to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast you travel to the legendary Volcanoes National Park, set among the dramatic Virunga mountains and home to Rwanda's famous mountain gorillas. The scenic drive offers stunning views of rolling hills and fertile countryside before you arrive at your lodge, with the rest of the day at leisure amid spectacular volcanic landscapes.
Day 6

Gorilla Trekking and Conservation

After an early breakfast and a briefing, you set off with expert guides and trackers in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family, the trek through bamboo forest and volcanic slopes culminating in one of Africa's most profound wildlife experiences. Later you visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn about the groundbreaking conservation work that protects Rwanda's gorillas.
Day 7

Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast you journey south through Rwanda's spectacular landscapes to Nyungwe Forest, one of Africa's oldest and most biodiverse rainforests. On arrival you visit a local tea plantation, discovering the journey from leaf to cup while enjoying panoramic views over the rolling green hills.
Day 8

Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk

Begin the day with an exciting chimpanzee tracking experience in the ancient forests of Nyungwe, following lively troops through the trees while encountering other primates, birds and unique flora. In the afternoon the famous Nyungwe canopy walk, suspended high above the forest floor, offers breathtaking views across the rainforest and surrounding mountains.
Day 9

Cultural Heritage Journey to Kigali

After breakfast you begin the return journey to Kigali, pausing at the historic King's Palace Museum in Nyanza, the former seat of Rwanda's monarchy, for a fascinating insight into the country's royal traditions. You enjoy a traditional local lunch before continuing to the capital.
Day 10

Departure

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before transferring to Kigali International Airport for your outbound flight, departing with unforgettable memories of extraordinary wildlife, inspiring conservation and the warm hospitality of the Land of a Thousand Hills.
