Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Kigali, Welcome to Rwanda

On arrival at Kigali International Airport you are warmly welcomed by our representative, assisted with arrival formalities and transferred to your hotel. Take time to relax and settle in while enjoying Rwanda's renowned hospitality and preparing for the adventures ahead.
Day 2

Into the Wild, Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast you depart Kigali for Akagera National Park, Rwanda's premier wildlife destination and home to the Big Five. On arrival you enjoy an afternoon game drive through diverse landscapes of rolling savannah, woodland, lakes and wetlands, watching for elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, antelope and predators.
Day 3

Safari Adventure in Akagera

Start the day with an early morning game drive when wildlife is most active, exploring different sectors of the park in search of lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and a variety of plains game. In the afternoon a relaxing boat safari on Lake Ihema brings you among hippo, crocodile and abundant birdlife along the picturesque shores.
Day 4

Journey to Volcanoes National Park

After a leisurely breakfast you depart for Volcanoes National Park, home to Rwanda's famous mountain gorillas and the dramatic Virunga range, with scenic views of rolling hills, traditional villages and lush countryside along the way. For an elevated experience, an optional helicopter transfer can be arranged. On arrival you check into your lodge with the remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 5

Gorilla Trekking and Conservation

After an early breakfast and a briefing, you set off with experienced guides and trackers in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family, the trek through bamboo forest and volcanic slopes rewarded with one of Africa's most extraordinary wildlife encounters. Later you visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn about Rwanda's pioneering conservation efforts.
Day 6

Golden Monkey Trekking and Return to Kigali

After breakfast you return to the park for another unique primate adventure, tracking the rare and energetic golden monkeys through the bamboo forests with excellent photographic opportunities as they leap through the trees. Following the trek you begin your scenic journey back to Kigali, with the remainder of the day at leisure for relaxation, shopping or exploring the city.
Day 7

Departure, Farewell to Rwanda

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before transferring to Kigali International Airport for your onward flight, departing with unforgettable memories of spectacular wildlife encounters, inspiring conservation stories and the warmth of the Land of a Thousand Hills.
